Welland is about to go wireless with the pending launch of free wireless internet access in seven designated locations throughout the city. A pilot project, funded by the municipality, will eventually provide ten public area WiFi  hot spots.  These hotspots will make it possible for people with laptops and wireless devices to access the Internet free of charge.  The service will enable users to surf the Internet and retrieve their emails while lunching in the civic square, watching their kids play hockey at the arenas, or cheering on their favorite Dragon Boat team along the recreational canal.  Access, though free, will have some restrictions to protect the network and the users. more...
